This Unique Boutique Hotel In Bastakia Is One Of Dubai's Best Kept Secrets
Set up in a remodelled heritage building, XVA Art Hotel is the ideal stay for art and history enthusiasts as well as for couples looking for a personalised getaway that offers something different from the run-of-the mill romantic hotels.
About the property
The property has 14 unique guest rooms showcasing the architectural and cultural history of the region, and each of them has been designed individually by regional or local artists and designers.
As mentioned earlier, it houses an internationally acclaimed art gallery, as a result of which the courtyard café attracts some of the city’s biggest creative names. If you plan on staying here, time your visit with an exhibition opening, film festival or art fair to really get the true experience.
The public areas in the hotel consist of three tree-shaded, tranquil courtyards that make for excellent spots to hang out during the day. Art work by contemporary artists is also on display here. There are also wind towers, a sumptuous lounge and a rooftop, from where you can witness the starry skies at night.
The price for a one-night stay starts at ₹9,600 for a double occupancy room, with breakfast included in the price. Without breakfast, you can expect to pay ₹8,600 per night.

The central courtyard’s award-winning café serves gourmet vegetarian cuisine, prepared with fresh regional ingredients. There’s also an array of fresh fruit juices and light refreshments on offer throughout the day. While the cafe is fine for a light lunch or evening snacks, if you’re looking for more filling food, you’ll have to head over to the Arabian Courtyard or the nearby Basta Cafe. Also, alcohol isn’t served at Bastakiya, so if you’re in the mood for a drink, you’ll have to head to the main city or the Marina.
How to get there
The hotel is located in the Al Fahidi neighbourhood of Bur Dubai, which is about 10km from the airport.
By Air: Dubai International Airport is one of the most well-connected airports in the world. There are multiple flights daily from Mumbai and Delhi in India. The prices for a flight from Delhi/Mumbai start at ₹7,500 (one way). Once you land at Dubai, you can easily take a taxi to the hotel. You can also take the bus or the metro to Al Fahidi from the airport.
What to do here
The hotel’s location makes it one of Dubai’s best kept secrets. Nestled between Dubai Creek and the bustling Bur Dubai, it is always bustling with activity. You will never run out of things to do here. The major attractions in the area are the textile souks and the Dubai Museum. The Museum opens at 8.30 in the morning and closes at 8.30 at night. The entry ticket costs about ₹52 for adults and ₹18 for children under 6 years of age. While the hotel itself is a hotspot for art lovers, you can also visit some of the art galleries nearby. Majlis Gallery is a popular option. It showcases art work revolving around Dubai’s history, especially the period before the discovery of oil and the tourism boom. In the evening you can go for a boat ride in the Creek to witness the magical beauty of Dubai waters.
