For those people wanting to experience the joys of flying in the sky and watching the world go by, there’s a way for you to score a ride without travelling the distance. Pollachi in Tamil Nadu is hosting the Tamil Nadu International Balloon Fest 2018 from 10th to 16th January 2018!
The Hot Air Balloon Festival promises to pack in adventure, thrill with a host of non balloon activities to keep you occupied. There’s a music festival, activities for children, food festivals and plays for everyone. Since entry to the festival is free, if you’ve not decided about ballooning, you can check it out and enjoy these other activities.
The festival takes safety very seriously. The festival is a ground for experienced balloon pilots to show their skills. Since the first edition of the festival, the participation has swelled. The balloon patterns have evolved and the festival sees a fair share eccentric balloon patterns.
The festival lasts for 6 days, and there are 12 balloons taking off every day. The balloons will take off at 6am every morning and land in a nearby village a couple of hours later. The festival’s popularity and line up of events has attracted a sizeable crowd every year. The first year, the footfall was 2,000 people and last year, the festival attracted 18,000 people.
The balloons are lit up in the evening to add to the ambience.
For those planning a trip, the passes for the event come at an economical rate of 15,000 per balloon ride. The entry to the festival and the non-ballooning events is free of charge.
