A Trip Of Savvy Backpackers Through Viridescent Wayanad
Kerala has always had its tag of God’s own country and anyone who would have taken a trip to the destination would have a justification or a reason to why the place is favorite for tourism. Most of the people fancy the fact that this place is rich in its greenery and not just that, but with a lot more of naturistic places. In fact, a traveler can find his key to happiness when indulged in exploring this beautiful place. I had been into being at places that have forests in it where you get to be a part of a very natural way of living life. But it was still restrictive as we did not harm the animals and birds that are endangered. I belonged to Bangalore and worked in Bangalore as well. Kerala was one place that I felt was closer and also had a number of sights that would end you up in marvel. My recent journey had been to Wayanad and this blog is apparently about how my whole journey had been through one of the best places I had ever been to in my lifetime. The tour package from Bangalore gave me and my friends, the wings to the fact that nature is the best healer existing to date. A budget had been set for the trip as overspending was clearly not on the cards.
I had informed my closest friends of the idea of traveling to Wayanad. And some of them had decided to be a part of it while the others had been busy with some work. So with the 7 people, I could get, we decided to leave to Wayanad where we decided to share the expenses and pooled in the required money. We started in the evening where we boarded the Airavata Diamond class from Bangalore and half of the night went on the bus. Early in the morning, we reached Wayanad where we were dropped. We got in touch with the driver whom we had booked through Seasonz India Holidays. He had been waiting for us on the opposite side of the bus stand and we got into his jeep that could easily accommodate all 7 of us. Most of us were half sleepy and were eager to reach the hotel that had been booked as we did not want to be sleepy and droopy while traveling. The driver dropped us and helped us check in and said he would get back at 9:30 and pick us. We got in, slept enough and got up in the morning to shower. The breakfast was served to the room and after having it, we got out to the garden in front of the hotel, waiting for the place.
The driver came to pick us up on time and told us that the first place of exploration would undoubtedly be the forest. He said us that we would be on an offroad ride most of the time and it was one thing in which we had been interested in. We got some bottles of water and drank it as the forests had the rule of no-plastic and so we had to dispose of it in the bins that had been at the entrance. We got into the Muthanga wildlife sanctuary with the tickets which the driver fetched us and began the first day of exploring Wayanad. It is located in the Nilgiri biosphere and is thus rich in the fauna and flora. The jeep journey was for 15 kilometers and I had been mind-boggling on how it was possible that the animals could be found around with the sound of the jeep running through the forests. The driver who we had got from the sanctuary said that the animals were used to the sound of the jeep and most of them don’t care about the jeeps passing by. He rode the jeep slow and we had our eyes fixed outside while the driver who had been a guide of the forest kept talking to us regarding the place, its significance and where we were bound to see what. The whole aura had been a lot more different than from Bangalore. It was more like we had been shifted to a way different form of eco-spot. In the meanwhile, I got to see the giant squirrels. They had been feeding on some sort of fruit in their natural habitat. On looking keenly, we were able to find a number of them who had been busy running around. As we proceeded, we got to see deer and sambar as well. The Tigers are known to be getting out during the night. At some point, we also got to see an elephant and from there, we drove as the signal was that there would be more elephants close by. We could surely not give the expense of an elephant attack. More than half a day was spent there where we got to be amidst pure forests.
After lunch, we were taken to the next place in Wayanad which was Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary. The main activity that we were a part of was trekking in where we could also see the number of birds that made the place rich. We got to see some of them flying across and that was it. We climbed back all the way and it was almost evening by then. we asked the driver to take us to some place from where we could get the sunset. He took us to a small hill from where we got the beauty of the sunset. We returned to the hotel for the night stay. The next night, we had to return back to Bangalore and so we slept well and got up in the morning. We checked out of the hotel and paid the fare for the stay. The jeep rode us to Kuruvadweep from where we got to be at the Kabini River. Quite a number of tourists had been there as the place is visited by a large number of tourists every year. We set off fiber boats for a small adventure boating and it was indeed a good experience. It was slightly costly but worth an experience. We took an early lunch and drove to the Meenmutty waterfalls. There, we were able to see the luscious three-tiered waterfalls. For almost three hours, we spend time there and by then it was evening. On the way back, we got out at Bana Sura Sagar Dam and that was the last place of sightseeing.
An expedition through the forests and nature had hence come to a standstill for a while as we were definitely for more exploration but some time later. We packed all our things and put it the jeep where the driver rode us to the place from where we had got down. The bus that had been booked was there and we boarded it waving thanks to our driver. All the dues that had been incurred were settled where we tipped the driver who had been a great companion. Also, the price incurred on the tour package to Kerala was lesser than what we had expected. The journey back to Bangalore began and we bid bye to the land that had rejuvenated us with its magic of nature.
